Joan Roberts
M.A.
My mission is to inspire, motivate and train those who work in
government and non-profit agencies through knowledge building
and knowledge sharing, to adapt to the complex challenges they
face in making our world a better place.
“A
terrifically clear-headed and visionary consultant,”
Michael Gilbert,
Nonprofit Online News:
As
Director of Capacity Building for the Wellesley Institute, Joan Roberts
developed, managed and delivered two leadership programs for the senior
staff of NPOs and city government workers in the GTA. Her certificate
program in Capacity Building teaches the technical skills needed for
effective governance and program delivery for NPO management.
As designer and lead trainer for the
Wellesley Institute’s Executive Leadership Program, which was developed
for executive directors and senior managers in the NPO sector, Joan
Roberts’ program aimed to “seed changes” in management approaches
to collaboration and take these new ideas back to their home
organizations and more widely in the NPO sector. “This program led to
significant individual and organizational transformation.” Wellesley
Institute, Program Evaluation.
As founder of Joan Roberts Consulting,
her clients and programs have included:
the Ontario Association of Police Services
Boards. This project involved developing an accountability framework,
responsibilities of the board, financial stewardship and business
planning, and influencing your external environment.
First Nations Police Governance
Authorities. To bring this project together required: a uniquely
developed terms of reference, a three module governance training
program, and evaluations of training programs and process functions.
